Since 2014, the use of oil heating in new buildings has been made more difficult due to the “Model Cantonal Regulations in the Energy Sector” (MuKEn). However, there is currently no Switzerland-wide ban on oil heating, even if the cantons have greater scope for action here. For example, the canton of Zurich has decided on a de facto ban on installing new oil heating systems in existing buildings.
